  1. INDIE COLLECTIVE 101:

LET ME TELL YOU WHAT "INDIE COLLECTIVE" REALLY MEANS!

I AM AUTHORIZED TO EXPLAIN THIS
BECAUSE I AM THE ORIGINATOR OF THE COINING OF THESE TWO WORDS, IN 1999.
THAT IS WHEN I STARTED DESIGNING WRIST BANDS AND TEE SHIRTS AND DECIDED TO NAME MY COMPANY INDIE COLLECTIVE, IMAGINING THAT IT WOULD EVENTUALLY BECOME SOMETHING LIKE ANDY WARHOL'S FACTORY.
PRIOR TO ME COINING THESE WORDS
I HAVE NEVER HEARD ANYTHING CALLED "INDIE COLLECTIVE".
BEING A FILM INDUSTRY PERSON, I WAS INSPIRED BY INDIE CINEMA AND ALSO BY INDY CAR RACES.
I HAVE SPENT NINE YEARS DEVELOPING MY BRAND, PREFERRING A SLOW, ORGANIC GROWTH KIND OF LIKE UNFOLDING OF A FLOWER.

JUMP CUT: TO ABOUT 2006 OR SO.
I STARTED NOTICING OTHER PEOPLE USING MY NAME. BY 2007 IT IS HAPPENING WITH VENGEFULNESS!
    WHY?
IS IT EASIER TO STEAL SOMEONE ELSES WORDS, IDEAS, STYLE AND EVEN INITIALS?
AND LOOK WHO YOU ARE RIPPING OFF?
NOT SOME BIG MEAN BUSINESS WHO MAY DESERVE SUCH A TREATMENT BUT ONE OF YOURSELVES. A TRUE INDIE DESIGNER, WHO WORKED SO HARD,
ALL THESE YEARS TO MAKE A VERY PARTICULAR, HIGH CONCEPT FASHION NAME FOR HERSELF. AND YOU ARE LESSENING AND DILUTING MY NAME
UNDER THE GUISE OF HELPING INDIE DESIGNERS. AND THE DESIGNERS ARE GOING ALONG WITHOUT QUESTIONING ANYTHING.
DOWN WITH YOUR LACE AND CANDLES AND JUNK. AT LEAST TRY TO PRESENT SOME GOOD QULITY WORK. SHAME ON ALL OF YOU FOR DOING THIS TO SOMEONE WHO IS JUST LIKE YOU.

  2. Thanks for the history on indie collective[dot.com]...which I was aware of.

Please note that you are not the only victim of name/ property usage...I can supply you with tons of stories. If you have issues with Indie Collective.net, please take your concern up with them. Writing in all caps in this blog will not help.

Lastly, I am surprised that one would sign a post as anonymous considering your outrage with others usage of your name not to mention your issue with other existing indie designers and up and coming designers...fortunately I know a bit about you and how to contact you and will forward as appropriate.

    Have a great day!

  3. Well "indiecollective 101"... perhaps you should work a bit more on your approach to developing your brand. Telling off other indie designers (not to mention insulting) somehow doesnt seem to be the best way to go about things:

"DOWN WITH YOUR LACE AND CANDLES AND JUNK. AT LEAST TRY TO PRESENT SOME GOOD QUALITY WORK."

... correct me if i'm wrong, but these very indie designers you insult, are they not the same people who bought your wristbands and tee shirts when you first began?

...oh but ofcourse, since you have obviously moved on to bigger and better things, it is only fitting that you would consider yourself to be above everyone else.

"A TRUE INDIE DESIGNER, WHO WORKED SO HARD,
ALL THESE YEARS TO MAKE A VERY PARTICULAR, HIGH CONCEPT FASHION NAME FOR HERSELF
    "

  4. ckone...thanks for the post. I just totally dismissed Ms. Yavuz post. Her time and anger could have been spent doing something more productive than posting what she did on the blog.
